Truth-be-told, I was bitten by the acting bug when I was 5 or 6 years old. I had been with my class at a PBS taping of I Can Read in LA. I was wearing green (that was my favorite color) and the story was about Timothy the Turtle. I was “cast” to play Timothy, falling onto my back, the shell preventing me from turning over. My other forest-creature friends needed to help me get back on my feet.
Then what?
I participated in school plays and productions, along with everyone else in my classes. In High School, I joined the drama club and got involved in some theater productions, including (what’s now) classic Saturday Night Live! skits. I wrote and produced two student films, lost somewhere on VHS tapes in history.
And then?
Then I went to college. I did a few extra roles on a Cinemax show but wound up leaving it aside; I needed to make a living.
Nearly a half-century after being bitten by that bug, I returned to learning techniques in a master class during the pandemic.
All of which leads me to where I am now.
And where is that?
I have filmed two independent feature films, I’m a recurring “correspondent” on YouTube’s Parody News Network, and I continue to find roles to film that speak to the storyteller inside me.
I also participate in local theater productions and I’m getting into voiceover work.
All of these are fun activities for me. And, as I live my Life After Losses life, I’m showing myself that I walk the talk. Life should be enjoyed.
